An apparatus comprises at least one first twister member and at least one second twister member. These fwister members are arranged so that their work surfaces cross each other at a selectable angle in contact relationship to provide at least one crossing zone for nipping there between at least one thermoplastic filament yarn which is fed to twist this filament yarn between the contacting work surfaces successively and at the same time to urge this filament to discharge from this crossing zone sucessively as the twister members are driven.
