PURPOSE:To carry out quickly and easily the rearrangement of the rolls, by installing the roll neck socket for receiving the lower roll in the overhang type carrier truck. CONSTITUTION:When upper and lower work rolls 8, 9, are to be pulled away, the cylinder 17 is operated so as to locate the overhang type carrier truck 16 on the operating side of the housing. Next, the cylinder 26 is operated to adjust the height of the roll neck socket 23 to the height of the roll neck of the lower work roll 9, through the parallel links 24, 25. Then, the cylinder 30 is operated to turn the overhang type support 27 round the pin 32 through the torque levers 28, 29, in order to match the inclination of the roll neck socket 23 to the inclination of the lower work roll 9; and the lower work roll 9 is exactly fitted into the roll neck socket 23 and is overhung. After that, these rolls 8, 9, are unloaded onto the side shift frame 19, and are moved by the cylinder 21. Next, the new upper and lower work rolls at the waiting position are moved by the side shift cylinder 22 to the position corresponding to the overhang type carrier truck 16, and are incorporated into the housing by the reverse procedure. |
