<p>The external door is of a semi-rigid panel construction, which is side hung, and has a metal edge frame (4) which is filled with timber panels (2). The frame may incorporate horizontal and vertical members which are of a hollow rectangular section. The horizontal members or rails have a winged 'U' section (10) which is closed by an edge folded cover plate (11). The metal frame may include a groove for a sealing strip (12). The panelling is plywood which fixes onto the frame flanges to fill the areas between members. Locks may be housed by a frame post (4) and the panel infill (5, 7) receives ornamental facings (6) secured by special nails.</p> |
