In order to effect a watertight assembly of a watch case crystal 4 and the case rim 1, the latter is formed with a bezel 1a which is engaged in a V-shaped groove in the crystal periphery, the surface 6 of the bezel 1a bearing tightly against a surface 7 of the groove, and the peripheral lip 4a of the crystal is flexible and resilient and deformed to bear against the surface 8 of the case vein 1 and bezel 1a. In a further embodiment the crystal is less thick than the crystal 4 and the annular peripheral groove is formed an annular rib 10a Fig. 5 (not shown). In another embodiment the peripheral lip of the crystal is truncatect to provide a surface for engagement by pliers for placing the crystal in position.
