A pontoon, for example of the type constituting an intermediate station in a roll-on/roll-off connection between a vessel and a quay, is provided with at least one tower 14 on its side which can be turned towards the quay. A slide body 16 is movable in a vertical guide 15 in the tower and is held in a fixed position by connection with a bollard 13 or the like on the quay. Two chains 19, 25 are fixed in the quay and are led over guide members 21, 27; 22, 26 at the upper and lower ends of the guide and are subsequently fixed to opposite sides of the slide body. The whole is arranged such that changes in the position of the pontoon relative to the quay level result in inversely proportional changes in length for the sections of the chains 19, 25 between their fastenings in the quay and first upper and lower guide members respectively. <IMAGE> |
