Differential polarography system - applies ramp voltage with modulated square pulses to drops of long dropping time

Differential pulse polarography method uses growing Hg drop on working electrode with dropping time of several 10 secs. Few seconds after fall of preceding drop, polarisation ramp voltage is applied with superimposed modulating rectangular pulses at frequency of several pulses per sec. Measurement is taken after second drop has fallen. Applying drops with long drop time reduces time required for analysis and results in lower Hg consumption. Measuring on drop with large surface improves sensitivity, and gives very accurate and reproducible results.
