A fire protection system for an engine consists of a shutter (1) which can shut off the air supply. It is normally held open by a bolt (5) engaging a catch (4). The bolt (5) is supported by a hydraulic cylinder (6) supplied with pressure from a pump (8). In the event of a dangerous rise in temp., a thermal sensing device is used to transmit a signal to an electronic circuit which cuts off power to the solenoid valve (12). This, in turn, shuts off oil pressure of the cylinder (6), releasing the bolt (5) and so shutting off the air supply.
|
