Clockwise-anticlockwise twisting machine for electrical cables - has twisting path doubled back on self via deflection rollers to reduce overall length

The path along which the cable travels through the machine is divided into several sections located in different parallel planes (a-d). The sections are joined one to another by deflection rollers (14) that turn the cable through 180 deg. back on itself. These rollers allow the cable to rotate about its axis along the sections. In the first section the cable rotates e.g. clockwise, in the second anticlockwise, in the third clockwise and so on. The wires (1) making up the cable enter the machine via separate rollers from their storage drums (7) and are brought together by the input nipple (10). The grouped wires then pass into the first twisting section of the machine. High production rates can be accomplished and the machine has a relatively short length whilst still allowing large distances of up to 500 or 1000 m between the points at which twisting direction reverses. The machine is intended for making flexible cables that will be cut into relatively short lengths before use.
