The sailing board rigging has the sail, or a component connected therewith, such as the forked boom or double wishbone boom provided with buoyancy in the area near the mast. It has negative buoyancy in the area away from the mast to facilitate lifting the sail from the surface of the water. The buoyancy may be provided by foam plastics, wood, cork, or air chambers. The negative buoyancy may be provided by bores in tubular boom members permitting water to enter and bores serving as outlets for the air. Negative buoyancy may also be provided by weights on the sail or the boom.
