Diffusion-alloyed electroplate consists of Si-alloyed electroplate, pickled after hot rolling and roll plated with Al. Before diffusion, pt. of the Al coating is anodised to form a protective coating for high temp. annealing and reduce the metallic Al to the desired slight thickness. The anodised layer also acts as heat-resistance, electrical insulating layer, which must also be applied for the purpose of application of the electroplate. After cold rolling, the Al can be vaporised, so that anodisation is unnecessary in partic. in dry annealing furnaces. Redn. of the thickness of the Al layer ensures that the Al content is highest near the surface and lower in the centre, so that the middle of the strip remains less brittle, which improves the processability. This also favours magnetic flux.
|
