PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a motor by altering the Young's moduluses of the outer and inner peripheries of an elastic element. CONSTITUTION:The elastic element 10 of an ultrasonic motor is formed in a disc state, and composed of an outer periphery 12, an inner periphery 14, a center 16 and a connector 18. The peripheries 12, 14 are formed in thick circular states having the same thickness, the center 16 is formed in a thick disc state, and the connector 18 is formed in a thin circular state. In this case, the peripheries 12, 14 are formed of different materials, the periphery 14 uses the material having larger Young's modulus than that of the periphery 12 and adhered integrally with an adhesive. Thus, a traveling wave is generated in its circumferential direction in response to the movement of a piezoelectric element. This wave is transmitted to a press-contact rotor, thereby rotating it. |
