The flexible thermoplastic outer casing 16 of a Bowden cable conduit is mounted by a thermoplastic end-piece 44, bonded to the casing 16. The end-piece is injection-moulded around the casing end and may have a radial or tangential lug (56), Fig. 7 (not shown), having integral metal eyelets or snap-studs (57) engaging mounting slots. Alternatively, the end-piece may be held by a split metal clamp (54) between two spaced annular flanges (50), (52), Fig. 6 (not shown). An annular end flange 46 extends to the diameter of the inner extruded thermoplastic tube 12 to centre the movable inner cable. Between the inner tube 12 and casing 16 spaced wires (14), Fig. 8 (not shown), of steel or plastic or a combination of both are wound on a long lead with an alternative extra short lead strengthening wires. The end of the conduit may be flared in the end-piece as at 15, or straight. |
