PURPOSE:To prepare the title thin and light sheet which brings about no outflow of the contents even when an outer packaging bag is broken, by sealing a particular water-absorptive composite into a space between two heat-sealable sheets at least one of which is permeable to water. CONSTITUTION:Pref. fibrous base mainly composed of a water absorptive fiber or a spongy base having a continuous network porous structure (e.g., polyester fiber web) is impregnated or coated with an aqueous soln. of an ethylenically unsatd. monomer [e.g., (meth)acrylic acid] optionally contg. a crosslinking agent and an additive, and polymerization is conducted to prepare a water- absorptive polymeric composite. The formed composite is sealed into a space between two water-absorptive heat-sealable sheets.
