The substrate material is printed with a print paste based on water or on a water-in-oil emulsion. In addition to at least one thickener the print paste contains a specific, aqueous, low-dispersant dye preparation of water-insoluble or sparingly water-soluble dye whose particle size is less than 10 mu . This preparation contains at least 10% by weight of water, at least 30% by weight of the dye, an anionic dispersant in an amount of not more than 10% by weight, a nonionic dispersant in an amount of not more than 5% by weight and a hydrotrope in an amount of not more than 35% by weight. |
