<PICT:1070747/C1/1> A coaxial connector comprising an internal and an external conductor both of the same highly conductive metal, e.g. copper, in which the internal conductor is centred axially of the external conductor by means of a refractory member abutting a shoulder on the inner wall of the external conductor, is hermetically sealed by a fused glass seal formed between and bonded to both conductors and also bonded to the refractory member, the internal conductor having a tubular cavity extending beyond both ends of the seal in which is located with an easy fit a metal member of similar coefficient of expansion to the glass, e.g. molybdenum. An internal conductor 2, having a solid portion 8 and an axial cavity 9 housing a molybdenum part 11, is hermetically sealed to an external conductor 1 having a shoulder 7 against which rests the ceramic centring piece 15. The external conductor 1 has flanged ends 3, 4 the latter being provided with grooves 5 for use in vacuum apparatus. The seal 17 is formed by fusing a powdered borosilicate glass, the top surface of which is given a U-shape. To aid bonding, the ceramic piece 15 is coated with an enamel. In the region of the seal 17 the walls of the conductors are reduced in thickness to a four-tenths of a millimetre. The refractory member 15 is preferably made of sintered alumina and is in two parts. In an alternative embodiment the coaxial connector may have two internal coaxial conductors.
