Coating enamelled plates with spectrally selective tin oxide - by spraying with soln. of organic tin cpd. and tri:fluoro:acetic acid in acetic acid

Application of spectrally selective oxide coating onto dark-coloured enamelled metal plate is carried out by spraying the enamelled plate at high temp. with soln. of >=1 organic tin cpd. (I) and CF3COOH in glacial acetic acid. Cpds. (I) must be cpds. which decompose to Sn oxide when heated, without releasing Cl2 vapour or HCl. Process is esp. useful for mfr. of solar heat collectors. Resulting F-doped oxide coatings have high absorption coefft. for normal-incident solar ratiation (alpha=0.90-0.93) and high reflection coefft. for normal-incident thermal radiation (r=0.84-0.89).
