<p>1388755 Making garments CLUETT PEABODY & CO INC 30 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 15031/72 Heading A3V [Also in Division D1] Knitted garments having a predetermined comfort level are produced by knitting fabric in accordance with prescribed knit-design pacemeters which include a precise determination of stitch density and stitch length; converting the fabric into a garment; testing the garment to determine the comfort level thereof, and comparing the tested comfort level with a prescribed optimum comfort level; knitting fabric in accordance with the knit-design parameters which are altered to produce a garment therefrom having a comfort level more nearly approaching the optimum comfort level; and repeating each of the above steps in the enumerated order until garments are produced having the prescribed comfort level. "Comfort level" is defined as the load per lineal dimension required to distend the fabric circumferentially to a predetermined condition of stress. The fabric is knitted from stabilized fibres which may be all cellulosic, e.g. cotton or rayon, or a blend of thermoplastic synthetic fibres, e.g. polyester, with cellulosic fibres.</p> |
