PURPOSE:To make vapor sterilization possible as to carbonic acid gas sensity measurement by fitting an electrode support cylinder with an air-permeable film to a culture tank and then by filling the support cylinder with a solution of bicarbonate ions after sterilization and inserting a pH electrode. CONSTITUTION:Electrode support cylinder 4, equipped with air-permeable film 2 such as a silicon rubber thin film, is fixed to electrode fitting cylinder 5 of a culture tank, and a heat-resisting material such as stainless bar 1' is inserted into electrode support cylinder 4 and fixed by cap nut 8. After vapor sterilization in this state, stainless bar 1' is taken out and a solution of bicarbonate ions is poured before pH electrode 1 is inserted in contact with air-permeable film 2 and fixed by cap nut 8. As a result, the same structure as a carbonic acid gas electrode is realized and the density of carbonic acid gas for fermentation is measured. This facility prevents the damage of air-permeable film 2 due to saturated vapor pressure and eliminates the need to sterilize an inside solution and pH electrode 1. |
