PURPOSE:To provide a recording image having an excellent color-development speed, color-development concentration, and fastness to light without clogging a nozzle by a method wherein a solvent composed of aromatic compound is sprayed on a sheet consisting of colorless dyes and aromatic carboxylic acid or metal salts thereof as a developer. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous dispersion consisting of a colorless dye such as a xanthene compound or a thiazine compound a color developer such as an aromatic carboxylic acid or metal salts thereof selected from salicylic acid (derivative) or metal salts thereof, pigment, binder and the like is coated on the surface of a substrate as the paper of 5-150mu thickness or thermoplastic film of 10-200mu thickness to obtain an ink jet recording sheet containing 0.01-1g/m<2> of the colorless dye and 0.02-5g/m<2> of the color developer. Then, an aromatic compound with b.p. of 100 deg.C or above such as diisopropyl naphthalate or 1-phenyl-1-xylyl ethane is sprayed on this sheet to obtain the recording image. |
