Manufacture of a fibre fleece tube with a weld seam comprises folding the edges of a continuously advancing fibre fleece strip together and welding them to one another ultra-sonically to produce a tube with a longitudinal seam. The edges may butt together or overlap and a membrane may be brought into the interior of the tube produced to form a membrane filter unit. Gives a considerable increase in the rate of production of the tube and an increased permeable area, compared to tubes produced by spiral winding and welding of the adjacent turns. |
