Novel 4-oxo-2-imidazolidinylidene-ureas of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R1 denotes a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl radical, R2 denotes a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl radical, R3 denotes a hydrogen atom or an aryl radical, R4 denotes a hydrogen atom, an aryl radical or an arylalkyl radical and Ar denotes an aryl radical, with the exception of compounds in which R3 and R4 represent 2,6-disubstituted aryl radicals, are prepared. These compounds are obtained by reacting a correspondingly substituted 2-iminoimidazolidin-4-one with an arylisocyanate in an inert aprotic organic solvent. The novel compounds exert an inhibiting action on the secretion of gastric juices and a damping (suppressing) action on the central nervous system. |
