<p>NEW MATERIAL:1-Vinyl- 6 -fluoro-1, 4-dihydro- 4 -oxo- 7 -(1-piperazinyl)-1, 8- naphthylidine-3-carboxylic acid and its salt. USE:Antibacterial agent especially effective to gram-negative bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Useful as medicine for man, animal, and fish, and a food preservative. Characterized by the 6-position fluorine atom. PROCESS:The compound I is prepared either by simply heating a compound II (R1 is H or protecting group; R2 is H, lower alkyl; X, Y are H, halogen, lower alkoxy, etc.), or by heating the compound II in the presence of a catalyst such as acidic substance, acid anhydride, base, etc., usually at 50-270 deg.C, and if necessary, hydrolyzing the product to eliminate the protecting group or the ester residue.</p> |
