PURPOSE:To prevent the fluidization of an ion exchange resin and raise the efficiency of regeneration, by setting the concentration and introduction speed of a regenerating agent in prescribed ranges in a method of regenerating the ion exchange resin by upward flow. CONSTITUTION:A regenerating agent is caused to flow upward through an ion exchange resin whose function has deteriorated because water to be processed is caused to flow downward through the resin. As for a cation exchange resin bed, hydrochloric acid is caused to flow as the regenerating agent at a concentration of 2.5% or less and an introduction speed of 4-8m/hr. As for an anion exchange resin bed, sodium hydroxide is caused to flow as the regenerating agent at a concentration of 20% or less and an introduction speed of 4-8m/hr. In these cases, the contraction of the resin due to osmotic pressure and the swelling of the resin due to regeneration cancel each other and the resin is prevented from being fluidized. Therefore, the efficiency of the regeneration is raised. |
