PURPOSE:To reduce the warpage of U-shape steel sheet piles by restraining and holding the rolling material in a truly straight state before the transformation of flange, removing the restraint prior to web transformation then allowing the material to cool. CONSTITUTION:In order to make effective use of the transformation phenomena during cooling, the rolling material is restrained and held in a truly straight state prior to the transformation of flange which occurs in precedence after passage through the finishing mills and the restrain is released prior to the succeeding web transformation, after which the material is allowed to cool. Because of this treatment, expansion is restrained at the flange transformation and therefore compressive stress acts upon the flange and tensile stress upon the web, thereby causing plastic deformation. This causes the plastic deformation desirable for easing the camber after the cooling. However, it is important to remove the restraint prior to the web transformation and allow the material to cool in a free cambering state. |
