The clamp has two steel jaws (7a, 7b) of matching shape joined by a hinge (8) and by a lock (10), while the central separation of the jaw is slightly wider than the thickness of the pedal levers. The clamp has a foot (9) of steel bent at two right angles to form a 'U' and is welded to the bottom jaw. The clamp can be made tougher by increasing the steel gauge until it cannot be cut by hand tools, it stores easily under the car seat and more security is obtained by replacing the padlock with a built-in lock.
