发明名称 Use of foam-lined moulds and covers for panelled inflatable balls mfr. - to simulate hand stitched panelled balls using prodn. line techniques
摘要
Panelled ball for games such as football is made by pressurising an inflatable spherical lining in a mould lined with flexible foam to support and consolidate a layer of pre-fabricated polygonal segments of hide which form a superficial cover by adhesive bonding side-by-side on to the surface of the lining. The lining is of rubber enclosed by a layer of wound filaments impregnated with a thermosetting adhesive and bonded to the lining surface by consolidation under pressure in a preliminary mould. Each segment of hide is supported on a bonded pad of flexible elastic foam, to support the centre of the segment and give the appearance of a traditional, hand-stitched ball whilst being suitable for prodn. using semi-automatic systems and relatively unskilled labour. Expanded rubber, PVC and polyurethane foam are examples of material suitable for lining the concave side of the hide segment.
