PURPOSE:To obtain output images expanded or compressed out in the lengthwise direction, in addition to output images equal to actual ones, by varying the opening width of a light receiving element and setting the length-to-width ratio arbitrarily. CONSTITUTION:Channel cut 9 and n-layer 2 are made sufficiently wide or long in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the arrangement of the light receiving regions. The width W2 of each light receiving element A'' is made sufficiently larger than its length L1. This rectangular light receiving region A'' is covered by light shielding electrode 7 having window 7' whose maximum width is W2. The width W3 is set arbitrarily within the range 0<W3<W2 by the pattern of a mask used when light shielding electrode 7 is formed. Each light receiving region can be made into one having a fixed length and width W3 arbitrarily set within the maximum width W2. |
