The metal insert which is inseted into the mould for shaping the sole (1) comprises a linear reinforcement member (1a) embedded in the sole and a holder part (3a) which projects down out of the sole (8). It is used for fixing the heel. The metal insert which can be a one-piece steel body is first placed in the mould whereupon the sole is pressed or shaped so that it has a built-in linear reinforcement member which pref. has a flattened part which increases the stabilising effect. The part projecting out of the top of the sole is then placed in the recess of the heel so that the heel can be secured.
