The heat pump includes an evaporator that forms part of a heat exchanger, a compressor for the evaporated working fluid, and a condenser that forms part of the heat distribution system. The evaporator (6) is coupled in a circulation system (9-11) which includes an accumulator (8). The evaporator creates ice slush which is transferred to the accumulator. The latent heat released by the formation of ice is transferred to the working fluid in the evaporator.
