Carboxylic acid amide derivs. of formula (I) and salts are new: In (I) R1 and R2 are both lower alkyl or one of R1 and R2 is hydrogen and the other is lower alkyl; X is halogen; R3 is lower alkoxy; R4 is lower alkyl. (I) are useful as psychotropic drugs owing ot their strong CNS depressant activity. (I) can be administered orally or parenterally in the form of tablets, capsules, powders, sirups, suppositories or injectable solns. at daily doses of 1-200 mg for adults.
