Air conditioning system for car - uses absorption cycle to cool engine with coolant mixture circulating through engine and flow restriction

An absorption type of cooling circuit is for a vehicle air conditioning system which uses the absorption cycle to cool the engine. The coolant mixture is circulated directly through the engine and passes via a flow restriction into a separation chamber. Vapour is ducted through a main condenser cooled by the engine fan and to a vapouriser which cools the input air. The liquid part of the coolant mixture is passed through a heat exchanger likewise cooled by the engine fan. No compressor is required and the system can be fitted to existing water cooled engines as a low cost, low weight improvement.
