PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display element having increased contrast, etc., and remarkably reduced driving voltage, by dispersing cholesteric liquid crystal particles in a polymer layer and forming a shell composed of a polymer membrane different from the above polymer layer on the circumference of the liquid crystal particle. CONSTITUTION:The objective element is composed of a polymer layer placed between a pair of display electrodes, cholesteric liquid crystal particles dispersed in said polymer layer and outer shell formed on the circumference of the liquid crystal particle and composed of a polymer (preferably polyurea resin, polyurethane resin, polyamide resin, polysulfonamide resin, epoxy resin, polysulfanate resin, polycarbonate resin) different from the polymer of the layer. |
