In wound metallized capacitors because of wide metallized margins and misregistration during winding wide metallized foils are necessary. The disclosed device reduces the use of wider foils by using a particular metallizing pattern and thus reduces the size of the capacitor for a given capacitive rating. A rolled metallized film capacitor is manufactured completely metallizing one surface of each of a pair of dielectric films (31, 32) and advancing the film while laser scribing patterns demetallized lines (34, 35) on the respective films which are wound together to provide a pair of capacitor plates of finite areas. The laser scribing (111, 112; 128, 129) is controlled so that when the films (31, 32) are wound together, the lines on the respective films are in overlaying relationship on the core and peripheral windings, and are diverted to opposed marginal edge portions on the respective films on the intervening windings.
|
