Telephone exchange call handling procedure - using storage to hold queue of incoming call information for routing in order by common control

The incoming calls are held in a FIFO (First in First Out) store until the control equipment is free to process them individually. The holding store works in synchronism with a control store which counts the incoming calls and initiates the routing procedures for each. Information from the subscribers (T, VP) is directed by the subscriber's uniselector (TS, PS) into the control equipment where it is queued in the queuing store (WF) and its presence is logged in the working store (SP). A cyclic store counter in the working store (SP) scans the lines to ascertain their state and co-ordinates the operation of the queue (WF) and working (SP) stores. The control also scans and can mark the cross points in the switch block, and the incoming and outgoing junction relay sets (Ue1, Ue2, Uem) of junction route (AL).
