Access tread for lorry cab - has protective cowl on underside to deflect spray away from side of cab

The access footplate (1) for a lorry cab, mounted in front of the wheels is provided with a grid structure to prevent build up of road dirt and snow and ice. An elastic cowl (2), is fitted to the underside to prevent spray from the wheels from being whirled through the plate and over the sides of the cab. The cowl is sloped to have a wide intake slot and guides the slipstream upwards over the side of the cab to prevent wheel spray from landing. The elastic cowl is fitted to the plate using simple bolts.
