The cutter has a thrust knife (19) reciprocating in a vertical guide (22) serving as a connection between the base plate (21) and the housing (23) of the machine. On the side surface of the housing a carrier rod (4) is slidably fitted which can be operated in vertical movement by a button. On the other end of the carrier rod, a finger protection yoke (3) made of transparent material is fitted surrounding the thrust knife. On the upper end of the sensor rod (1) operating in the carrier rod (4) switch (9) is fitted with both of its poles (27) connected with pole shoes (28) which are designed as adjustable carbon contacts and glide on rails (29) connected to the current supply. The rails are positioned on either side of the carrier rod (4) and are parallel to the rod.
