<p>A power supply is disclosed for developing substantially constant average power in a variable resistance load. The power supply comprises a non-sine wave alternating polarity source (11) coupled through a capacitor (12) to a rectifier network (13,14,15,16), and an inductor (17) interposed between the rectifier network and the variable resistance load. A substantially constant average power mode obtains when the range of values of load resistance (18) is less than a network parameter determined from the frequency of the source (11) and the value of the capacitor (12).</p> |
