PURPOSE:To manufacture the titled rod of long, large-caliber with elaborate structure by a mechanism wherein microwaves are irradiated letting the liquid raw material of glass composition flow down and glass impalpable powder is accumulated on a target moving in the axial direction while rotating. CONSTITUTION:Microwaves are irradiated through a microwave power source 2, a waveguide 3 and an antenna 4 while letting flow down the liquid raw material 7 of glass composition under a condition that is dissolved or dispersed in water through a nozzle 6' from a hopper 6, and glass impalpable powder 12 is accumulated on a garget 9 arranged into a microwave oven 1. In this case, the target 9 is moved in the arrow head 10 direction so that distance up to a surface of the impalpable powder 12 on the target from the nozzle 6' becomes fixed in order to keep the load of microwaves constant while the target is revolved in the arrow head 11 direction to uniformly accumulate the impalpable powder 12, and an impalpable powder rod is manufactured. |
