PURPOSE:To automatically and easily measure the property of an ink ejected from a nozzle, by dropping the ink under prescribed pressure and measuring the number of ink drops in a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:Ink particles ejected from a nozzle 5 and not charged with electricity by a charging electrode 7 are collected into the first gutter 101. A prescribed quantity of ink is reserved between the bottom of the gutter 101 and an outlet port 23 of large diameter. The ink is let to freely drop from a pipe 24 of small diameter at the bottom of the gutter to the second gutter 102. The ink drops are caused to pass through between slit plates 251, 252 behind which a light emitter 26 and a light receiver 27 are placed. As a result, one electric pulse is generated for one ink drop. The electric signal is applied to the input CK of a counter 30 through a wave shaping circuit 28 and an AND gate 29. The number of ink drops in a prescribed time is memorized in a latch circuit 32, the output of which is supplied to an indicator 33 and a digital-analogue converter 34 so that the output is compared with voltages VS1, VS2 corresponding to set ranges of ink drops in comparators 351, 352. |
