PURPOSE:To simplify a process and eliminate harmfulness and pollution hazard from work, by pressing and cooling coated paper with a cooling roll, the surface of which has a pattern different from the roll itself. CONSTITUTION:A resin such as polyethylene is extruded from a die 2 onto a substrate 1 such as paper supplied onto a press roll 6. The extruded resin 3 is pressed and cooled by the press roll 6 and a cooling roll 4 and then picked off by a pick-off roll 5, thereby coating the resin on the paper. The surface of the cooling roll 4 is provided with a pattern such as a character and/or sign, which has a surface roughness different from that of the roll itself. For example, a character and/or sign with a very low surface roughness approximate to that of a mirror is provided on a cooling roll with a relatively high surface roughness. In that case, the character and/or sign looks bright and embossed because it reflects light well. |
