An improved filter with granular medium is described, of a type which includes a filter tank, arrangements 10, 40 for dividing the tank into a number of cells, arrangements 12 within each cell for supporting horizontal porous carrier plates 14, a bed of filter medium 16 on the porous carrier plates, inlet arrangements for transporting the fluid to be processed to the top of the filter bed, filtrate-receiving arrangements 18 in each cell under the carrier plates for receiving the processed fluid, an outlet duct 20 for removing the processed liquid from the filter, opening arrangements 22, 56 for transport of processed fluid for each filtrate-receiving arrangement to the common outflow duct, also return-washing arrangements 24 which work in conjunction with the opening arrangements for guiding a return-wash liquid back through the opening arrangements and the filtrate-receiving arrangements and up through the filter bed for removing any impurities therein and thereon. According to the invention, it is considered to be an improved design of plastic cell system of light weight which splits the filter into a number of cells, provides horizontal carrier arrangements 42 for the porous plates, provides filtrate-receiving arrangements 46 and opening arrangements 56. Filters in which the present design of a prefabricated light-weight cell system is used are cheaper and simpler to install and offer more beneficial characteristics compared to filters previously available. <IMAGE> |
