<p>Treatment is based on at least two and preferably three electrodes working at about 12kV and 40Hz. The high voltage electrode (1) which can be in the form of an annulus for cylindrical objects such as bottles, consists of a series of demountable interconnected plates each having a small number, e.g. 4, of pointed electrodes. Earthed electrodes (7) consist of two rods positioned symmetrically to either side of the powered electrode. The rods having insulation sheaths (8) of quartz, melamine (RTM) etc. and aresecured to two masking isolating screens (9). The position of the two grounded electrodes with respect to the central one is adjustable by spacing bolts (11) between the screen supports and the base plate (5).</p> |
