The methodis for providing stored heat to the engine and/or the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, and is esp. applicable to cold starting. Heat is stored in a shallow rectangular box containing a head absorbing material such as a sand mixture, the box walls themselves having high thermal insulation. Heat is taken to the box by a pipe connected to the water cooling system of the vehicle, the piping within the box taking the form of a multipath radiador. A copper plate is welded to the radiator to increase its heat dissipation and absorption. I the box is posed within the passenger compartment an access port in the box can be opened to allow some heat to escape. The circuit of the water pipe takes it through a fan driven exchanger connected into the heating system.
|
