Bars leaving a rolling mill are to be fed from one horizontal roller track(15) to a second horizontal roller track(16) where track(15) is located at an oblique angle w.r.t. track (16). The transporter consists of a row of endless chain or cable traction belts fitted with fingers or plates for pushing or carrying the bars sideways from track(15) to track (16). Because tracks(15, 16) are not paralle, the transporter belts have a progressively decreasing length, but the longer belts are driven at progressively increasing speeds so each bar is parallel with track(16) when it leaves the transporter. The pref. transporter has a common drive shaft using different gear ratios or pulley dias. to drive the chain wheels or rollers carrying the transporter belts. Bars leaving one rolling mill train and sheared to length, and must then be transported from an inclined track(15) to a track(16) feeding the bars into another rolling mill train.
