PURPOSE:To prepare a cell with constant quality of no second discharge by press molding argentic oxide and reducing with vapor of the liquid reducing agent to form a cover layer of argentous oxide or mixture of it and silver metal. CONSTITUTION:The anode compound containing argentic oxide as the principal element is press molded to form a pellet, the pellet is reduced with vapor of a liquid reducing agent to form a reduced layer 2 comprising argentous oxide as the principal element covering the inner layer 1 or to form a cover layer 3 comprising mainly argentous oxide and silver metal, and the anode pellet 4 is placed in an anode can 5 to form a cell. A volatile reducing agent such as hydrazine, methanol, or methylamine is suitable as the liquid reducing agent. Thus the second discharge of argentic oxide is prevented to keep the discharge voltage constant, the control of reduced layer can be made easy to simplify the production process, as compared with the reducing method by steeping. |
