The sending and receiving station is for a single tube-postal system functioning in alternate directions, the tube extending vertically into its housing, which is equipped with loading and extraction hoppers. A cylindrical transfer vessel, open at top and bottom and of the same diameter as the tube slides at right angles to the latter and into line with it and either of the hoppers. The latter are vertical cylindrical chambers inside the housing (10) and accessible from the top, each accommodating a slug. They are formed by the transfer vessel (20, 21) when in the loading (3) and extraction (5) positions.
