The pump used to supply nourishment to a patient through the region of the stomach, has a plastics bag (6) containing the food substance enclosed in a pressure chamber (1) with the pump (3) below. A tube (8) inserted through a seal (7) in the cover (4) of the chamber, passes through a control valve (9) and then to the delivery point. The cover is secured by a quick acting connection to the open top of the chamber. The pump can be a compressed gas cartridge with a pressure reducing valve, or an electrically driven pump which may be an oscillating armature pump. The control valve can be periodically opened for fixed time intervals, operated by a control unit (10) and can be electrically operated.
