A machine for making screwed hooks and eyes is able to carry out all the necessary operations at one work station. The wire (12) is fed under a shear blade (4) where it is cut to the required length. The cut length of wire (13) is held over a mandrel whilst a first bending operation is performed by the punches (5) and a second bending by the punches (9, 10). The shank (12a) of the eye is aligned with the edge of the fixed thread rolling die (14a) by the action of the second bending operation. The moving die (14b) then slides over the shank (12a) to roll the screw thread.
