The car is secured by a central switch to operate an alarm if stolen. The alarm is operated, after a time delay, if a door or boot lid are opened. The boot lid lock and a movement monitor are linked to the circuit by an AND control to operate the alarm after a set delay. The system enables the driver to open and close the boot lid in order to leave shopping or other items, without having to open the vehicle and immoblise the alarm. The time delay gives sufficient time to open and close the boot lid. Any attempt to open the lid by forcing the lock operates the alarm immediately.
