PURPOSE:To raise development speed, effective sensitivity, etc. not accompanied by fog increase, deterioration of graininess of developed silver, or the like, by developing a silver halide photographic material in the presence of a specified amidino derivative. CONSTITUTION:A photographic sensitive material containing silver halide, such as silver chloride, bromide, chlorobromide, or iodide is developed in the presence of a compound or its salt represented by formula (R1, R2 are same or different, and are H, aryl or alkyl and R3 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, or aryl). The compound of formula I is made effective by adding it to a developing solution or to a bath before development, and it is added to the developing solution usually in an amount of 0.1-100g, preferably 1-25g/l developing solution, or added to a silver halide emulsion in an amount of about 0.01-50g/mol of silver halide.
